For the love of wine

Yep. We girls here at JunkFest all love wine.

It's no secret. And we all love to display our wine accessories. A simple wheel along with a disc spacer from a piece of farm machinery is all this project takes. Oh, and wine glasses. Duh. Can't forget a lovely display piece for the "fav" wine. An old sewing machine drawer. It's a fancy one. Now, let's get that glass poured. Wine perfection.

A Treat and a Sweet

On a recent stop at the thrift shop I couldn't help but snag this old rough piece of wood. It just seemed to have good lines, and interesting character.

But I kept asking myself..."Are you seriously going to BUY a piece of wood when you live on a farm jam-packed with odds and ends of this sort?" Of course I did.

I gave the board a light sanding, then proceeded to drybrush a conundrum of light toned colors in a random fashion on it. I wanted some of the wood to stay visible, because, well, it's adorable. Then I used my projector to add words to each side of the board, and followed up by giving the whole thing another sanding. There's just nothing better than making something new look OLDER! I'm still debating...glaze or don't glaze.

And what better than a reversible sign with two crazy good options:

Cupcakes...

Or a trip to the Beach!!

Just a drop in the bucket of what will be available at the one, the only, and the ORIGINAL

OOOhhh Pick ME, Pick ME

We are so excited to tell you that the
North Dakota Department of Tourism, sponsored by Hearst Communications,
has asked JunkFest to be a part of the prize package in their new Sweepstakes!

Our first thought was ...us? ...really?...heck yeah!!
We'd love to help promote our state, the city of Carrington,
and offer the best junkin experience we can think of!

What if we told you that you and your favorite junkin partner could win
that 4 night vacation package to explore central North Dakota?

And what if that vacation package included 2 free passes to JUNKFEST,
a JUNKFEST tote bag full of junky good gifts,
an exclusive one hour early bird shopping experience
AND a free lunch at the Fairgrounds??....

..and what if you knew that, while in Carrington, you would also receive
a tour of the new Dakota Sun Gardens Winery,
a private wine tasting in their quaint tasting room,
and a catered meal in their gorgeous gardens?

...Who would want to enter??

Well, the first step would be to pick up one of these:

and check out the bottom of page 35...
for more information and to enter...

...because you can't win if you don't enter!!

So, if you like to be the Queen of Junk....

....and fill up your trunk...
and mix in a little wine,
and enjoy the North Dakota scenery
while having an awesome roadtrip through the central part of the state
with your best friend (or spouse or sister or mother or daughter)
then you need to get to that entry form!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

**The picture of the vintage glove forms comes from Retrochalet on Etsy.
Unfortunately, I did not label the awesome picture
of the gal behind the car...
if you know the photographer, please inform us so we can give her credit.
(Let's just pretend the girl in that picture is me! Ha Ha)

I must confess...

I just can't keep it a secret anymore.

I've been smitten.

I feel SO guilty.

He is so stong, supportive, and is always there for me.

We've been spending alot of time together.
In the barn, in the yard, in the garage...even in my trailer!!

I didn't mean for this to happen...

But I just can't hold my feelings in anymore.

He has such strong arms.

And he's so grounded.

Yes, I know. He's quite a looker. Go ahead ladies...you can drool over him too.

And he never complains when I ask him to carry my JUNK.

I love you, man!

Way cool...

Howdy everyone! Welcome to show 'n tell....where I show you one of my really cool finds, and you tell me what you would do with it!

I can't even begin to pretend that I know what this is or was. All I know is it's metal and has just the right amount of rust here and there.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was for something electrical, because there's this thing attached to it that holds two ceramic insulators.

It bears the number 102 in some sort of enamel paint...

A close-up of what I'm calling the "insulators"....dirt and all.

A little peek at that rust I mentioned...

Along with some other foreign gunk. Just keepin' it real for ya.

If this was yours to deal with, what would you do?

Here's what I'm thinking:

Can you see it?

I would love to know what ideas you have in mind!
