WINTER GREETINGS FROM ANDREA'S HOUSE (a/k/a Junk Girl)

Hello everyone! Here goes my very first post! Just wanted to share a few photo's of my home decorated for Christmas/

Winter. I have taken down the big trees, but the little ones are still up! My family room is done in chocolate brown, Robin's egg blue (love it!), antique white (mostly chippy stuff), along with a tad bit of olive green thrown in for good measure. Hopefully you can pick out some of the good junk pieces I love! It's my favorite room in our home. Since it's downstairs, I wanted to keep it light and cozy. My boys won't be happy for me posting it, but that's a picture of them (hanging above the fireplace) which I took a few years ago. I attached the photo to an old grain bin door my dad saved for me. Hope you are all staying warm and cozy!

Here's a simple Winter centerpiece...

Have a Happy and Joyful 2009!

  1. I really like the colors you're using in your family room. I am redoing our bedroom and plan to use similiar colors. I have black painted vintage furniture, with a vintage unpainted fireplace mantle for our headboard. Plan to paint a neutral and accent with mocha browns and a shade of turquoise. I haven't settled on the shading of the blues yet. Love what you've done and enjoyed this post.
    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. Very sweet stuff, Andrea!

Questions: The greenish/blue *panel* in the last pic? Is that a door? What's your preferred method of hanging heavy items?

    Stay warm!

  4. Hey, Darcie! That "panel" is a piece of ceiling tile in the most wonderful Robin's egg blue color...found it at Funky Junque in Fargo. It's hung with small nails. I hate hanging heavy things...in fact, usually don't. You'll notice in the pictures I have two large windows, and I opted to just sit them on the carpet and lean them against the wall. Thanks for looking at our blogspot! Think Junk! Andrea
