Today I'm linking up with Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Friday over
here , and Funky Junk Donna's SNS #43
here. When I came across these chairs I wasn't so sure I wanted anything to do with them. I'm not a huge fan of caning. That was...until I saw it painted and distressed.
Before: Ick
After: Now
that's what I'm talkin' about!
And here's my inspiration below.
Miss Mustard Seed is one of my (many) favorite blogs.
This made me a believer in caned chairs. The slipcovered seat sealed the deal!
Even though I didn't embellish mine with a stripe to mimic an old feedsack, it's still flirty, fun, and functional. Would even be cute with a monogram on the seat!
Now I have a huge decision to make. Do I keep them
(yes, yes, yes!) even though there are only four, and I would prefer 6? Or, do I let some lucky person take them home from JunkFest?
I guess I've got a month (to be exact!) to decide.....what would
you do?
Well, let's just say you did decide to keep them...the problem of wanting/needing 6 chairs...put a contrasting (or coordinating) pair of 2 at the King and Queen positions!! Problem solved. Decision pending.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! But I might just hold out for the 6 chairs I wanted. I also linked up a MMS-inspired project (just a little one)

Your transformation is amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic and inspiring job!!!
KEEP THEM!!! Chairs like this (even in a set of 4) in this condition is hard to come by. Just add wing chairs at the ends until you come across a pair of cane backs with arms. Believe it or not...you will...I did! I found the armchairs first, held onto them and found the four side chairs about a year later. I'm so glad I kept them and you will be too...I promise...cross my heart!
ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous. The Southern girl in me says monograms!
Debbie
i say sell them...to me! they're just beautiful...please don't listen to Trash;)

KEEP THEM!! :) & i echo the above advice...use other chairs w/ the same theme. :) lucky gal...wish i could find some! :)
ReplyDeleteI would keep them. They are lovely. I love the womanly curves of the chair with the flirty skirt attached. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteMixing and matching chairs is supposed to be all the rage now on the designer TV shows. I say keep the 4 and find 2 more that are different but coordinate nicely.
ReplyDeleteJust my two cents.

These look great!
ReplyDeleteCassie, you did a GREAT job on the chairs! They look even better in person...the painting & distressing are really fabulous..not to mention the flirty skirts! They'd look great around a round table, wouldn't they??
ReplyDeleteLove the chairs! Great job!! I too, vote for a monogram and for keeping them!! I think that mixing in a couple of different chairs would work well and if you changed your mind or bumped into a set of 6 you had to have- then you could sell them! Thanks for your comment on my blog too! New follower here! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect!! Love them... keep them and look for two more to redo!! :)
ReplyDeleteUh, KEEP 'EM! Or else tell me where you live and I'll come and take them off your hands! Heh. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to check out my blog for a fun giveaway!

keep them, find some more to mix in. They don't have to match perfectly, you can blend them in.

You totally nailed this! I would've bought that chair and done the exact same thing.
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness...this makeover looks outstanding!!!!

These are lovely, feminine chairs, the redo looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCan you keep two and use them as header-type (you know, at either ends of the table) chairs? They are just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love how these came out they are so pretty.
