Remember this old desk/table I constructed from an old door and some very cool old table legs? Remember how I may have exaggerated just a wee bit about it weighing a ton? Well, it still does, but it's gotten a fresh face lift!
After the dust settled from Junk Fest, I got my trusty sander out and went to town, creating more dust and peeling back layers of black and brown, and even that ugly fleshy peach color it was originally. Then came the Kilz spray primer, which was a must for getting in those curvy grooves on the legs. A light hand sanding after that dried, then a coat of flat white paint. A little more sanding for a slightly distressed look, then the medium walnut stain. Can't remember the name, some off brand with the finish built right in. Great stuff! Paint it on, wipe it off (most of it). A trip to the local hardware store and 5 pieces of plexi-glass later, we're in business!
Here it is in it's new home in my sewing/craft room. Of course, I've already got so much stuff on the table, there's hardly room to work!
Wowsers! That white is popping that piece beautifully. Nice job! ~Mindy
ReplyDeleteYou busy little woman, you! Won't people be impressed with us...not laying on the couch eating bon-bons after Junk Fest, but WORKING on projects for our much neglected houses???(well, mine is anyway!) I'm so proud of us! L-O-V-E your projects, Cassie!
ReplyDeleteAnd dang, those legs on that table really are awesome...

How could I have...how could I have possibly encouraged you to leave it black and brown. So glad you didn't listen to me because it looks FABULOUS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! The door desk is perfect. I love your blog. So much so that I am now a follower
ReplyDeleteFabulous Table! I would be very tempted to put little pretties under the glass in the spaces as 'collections' or displays.
ReplyDeleteWish I had one!!

Love this Cassie! My 10-yr-old was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at your post. I said your table looked so nice and her response was "that is AWESOME!". You're even impressing the young ones out here!
ReplyDeleteNice job!

Oh my goodness! It's so much better than "your typical desk". That beauty is worth the sore backs from moving it. Gorgeous!
