Pumpkin-licious!

Yep, fall is in the air! I have looked everywhere in town for faux white pumpkins to decorate with and could find none. I really want to get my house spiffed up before my parents, sisters and aunt and uncle (from Spokane!) arrive for JUNK FEST. I decided I'll just paint some of the orange ones I already have...This is the end result - all satin ivory covered. Oh, the chair will be FOR SALE at JUNK FEST. It started out yucky brown with an even uglier vinyl seat in a green color I've never seen before! Burlap, batting and stenciled-on numbers make for a new cushion! Here are more painted pumpkins in a darker shade of ivory...I know, I know...black pumpkins? I love 'em! (Sorry for the bad reflection in this picture). I added some scrapbooking letters to one of the pumpkins to give it a little zip (they are raised letters that look like keys from an old typewriter). Wouldn't REAL old typewriter keys glued on be fun too? One more thing - the neat old suitcase in this picture will be FOR SALE at Junk Fest also! So don't throw out those old pumpkins; simply give 'em a face-lift! And, see you soon at JUNK FEST where we junk girls will have lots of fun, fresh fall decor and neat accessories for displaying it in and on!

Feelin' Warm and Fuzzy...at JunkFest!

The Junk Girls aren't the only ones who know how to repurpose! Let me tell you a bit about a new vendor to this year's JunkFest Flea Market. Darcie Grager is a very talented local artisan...and a real sweetie! (I know cause we've been BFF's for a LONG time!) She is one talented gal and will be featuring some of her very own creations in her booth, located in the "barn" at the fairgrounds.

Here's the "before" pic of one of her wrist bangles. She's worked her magic on it and now she's put a cool and funky touch to it! You'll have to stop by her booth to see the finished product.

And talk about repurpose! Check out the wool sweater!

And look at it now...WOW!
Looks to be some great surprises at this booth! Darcie creates a variety of wonderful things, along with being one of the best machine quilters I know. Check out her blog here! See you at JunkFest!!

Before & After

Found this great old theater seat at a garage sale this summer. Even though there were boxes and piles of "rummage" on top of it, I could see the potential just waiting to be uncovered. Fortunately, it was a single unit, not connected with a row of chairs, like I've seen in the past! Perfect for a small reading corner, den, or even college student apartment.

A little sanding and priming.....and cushion reupholstering...

What movie wouldn't be a great one from this chair? A little popcorn...soda...dim the lights and it's showtime!!

Are you coming to JunkFest '09? Look for goodies like this one or just stop in to say hi to the JF girls! Hope to see you there!
I'm linking up with Donna and a whole lotta talent over at Funky Junk Interiors for SNS #17! Won't you join us?

JUNKFEST is just around the corner....

...and you never know what you'll find! There will be lots of one-of-a-kind furniture pieces: dressers, console tables, occasional tables, chairs, beds, and "faux fireplaces" as well as garden art, benches, a bar or two, china hutches, bookcases....etc....so, be prepared! When we say "Bring your friends and bring a trailer"...we really mean it!

You might wonder just WHO is going to do all that HEAVY LIFTING on September 12th!? We will have our fabulous "Junk Hunks" ready and waiting to load your vehicle &/or trailer for you.
If you choose to bring your own "muscle-man" along, let him know that there will be an outstanding collection of Classic Cars on the auction block in Carrington on September 12 as well. Click here for the sales bill....

.....Just make sure he knows you've got first dibbs on filling the trailer!! See ya there. Lynette

'09 JUNK FEST ADMISSION: Proceeds will benefit our community!

The $2 admission proceeds collected at this years' Junk Fest will benefit two local Carrington charities! The first one will be Carrington's Daily Bread Pantry. This non-profit charity began in 2004 after our local county food bank closed. The program began it's start at the Trinity Lutheran Church and was later moved to a building on Carrington's Main Street. The co-directors, Laura Irion and Jan Bakke, are volunteers who donate their time, energy and hard work to keep this program open to the people in need in our community.
Our second donation will go to the Carrington Ambulance fund. Unfortunately this winter due to terrible road conditions, one of our ambulances was involved in a tragic accident while transporting a patient to a hospital in Fargo, ND. Sadly, the patient died. Paramedic Mike Parr was seriously injured and has not yet been able to return to work. We are so thankful for our local hospital and ambulance personnel! We hope we never need them, but are so grateful they are there in the event we do. Pictured below is paramedic Tim Schmeets.

Hot off the press: Farm Credit Services of North Dakota, Minot ND Association, has graciously offered to match our admission fees up to $750 bucks! Woohoo!

So come out to the 5th Annual JUNK FEST & Flea Market on Saturday, September 12th from 9:00-2:00 at the fairgrounds in Carrington, ND...we look forward to seeing you all! Please be sure and say "hi" to one of us Junk Fest girls if you have been a follower of our blog - we'd love to meet you!
